What We Need To Hear

By refusing to address an obviously delusional and ineffective executive, our Republican government officials are telling us: this is what we are, there is no better. And I blame Democrats for refusing to offer an enticing alternative, reinforcing the Right’s degrading view of this great nation.

Don't Cry Wolf on 'Cultural Appropriation'

As sociology begins to examine the finer points of our societal evils — institutionalized racism, implicit bias, etc. — we must be careful not to apply legitimate academic findings to a witch hunt of political correctness. Yes, political correctness is valuable in the sense that we should all be respectful of each other and exercise courtesy in our interactions, but when we begin to limit cultural exchange or free speech in the name of acceptance, we illegitimatize helpful attempts to build a more inclusive society. 

Trump Has Forever Changed the Presidency

With the 2018 midterms approaching, the average American, no matter her political beliefs, can see that Donald Trump has drascially changed the Presidency. So much so, one questions if he is fulfilling the role at all. One can only hope, for the good of the nation, that the man or woman who follows in his dopey footsteps can repair a fraction of what “President” Donald J. Trump has destroyed.
